New Tottenham Hotspurs signing DeAndre Yedlin says former Spurs star and USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann was instrumental in his move to White Hart Lane.
The right-back shone for the USA national team under Klinsmann at the World Cup and spoke about the German’s influence on him.
The 21-year-told the club’s website: “I talked to him a lot about this move and he really supports it.
“I know he has a lot of trust in me and I have a lot of trust in him.”
Yedlin went on to praise the former forward’s efforts with the national team after he guided them to the quarter-finals in Brazil.
He said: “He made us feel welcome and made us feel like we belong there, giving us the sort of confidence we need to perform at that kind of level.
“I was playing against some of the best players in the world, just like I want to do in the Premier League, so it was a great preparation for this.”
After signing for Spurs in a four-year deal from Seattle Sounders, Yedlin will remain with the MLS side before moving to north London ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
