MORE than 2,000 residents have signed a petition calling for a direct bus service to be introduced from West Wickham to the Princess Royal University Hospital, in Farnborough.

The petition will be presented to Transport for London (TfL) tomorrow by Bob Neill, the London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley.

Residents in the West Wickham area have campaigned for a direct bus route to the hospital since it was opened in 2002.

At present, patients from the area have to change buses and then walk for 15 minutes to get to the main entrance.

Mr Neill, who is also MP for Bromley and Chislehurst, said: "I have been lobbying TfL for a direct bus route from West Wickham to the Princess Royal Hospital now for many years without success.

"The sheer number of signatories that this petition has attracted shows the depth of feeling about this issue at a local level and it should be perfectly clear to TfL that a direct service is not only wanted but needed."

The petition, which has been signed by 2,207 residents, will be presented to the London Assembly and then forwarded to the Mayor of London Ken Livingstone.
