Winter Party ONCE again the Manningtree Society's winter party was a great success. After an excellent dinner Maggie Lulham's concert party, the Four-by-Fours, provided a varied and much appreciated programme of entertainment for the members and their guests.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, in the Methodist Hall, South Street, Manningtree at 7.30pm for 8pm and will be free to anyone wishing to find out about the society. Peter Simpson, the former deputy chief constable of Essex is to give a talk entitled Heart Beat of the Bill. Visitors will be made very welcome.
Co-op Guild THERE was an excellent attendance at the meeting of Manningtree Co-operative Women's Guild on March 6, when the chairman reminded the members about two forthcoming annual meetings. It was reported the half day outing would be to Corncraft on June 13 with a midday meal and a chance to visit the various outlets on the site before rejoining the coach for a mystery tour on the journey home. The full day outing to Yarmouth is on July 12.
The monthly competition was for a pretty tea towel. The rest of the evening was given over to discussing resolutions for the Congress in May. Clare Nicholson is the delegate again and the majority of resolutions received a yes vote, with a lot of debate beforehand.
Bowls Club WINNERS at the whist drive held at Mistley and Manningtree Bowls Club in New Road, Mistley on Wednesday, February 28 were: 1 Mrs J Tebbitt, 2 Mr B Crabb, 3 Mrs J Gous, 4 Mr J Prior; 1st half, Mrs J Law; 2nd half, Mrs A Prior; consolations, Mrs M Jaggard and Mr J Harding.
