A GARAGE owner was injured after an incident involving two people on his petrol station forecourt.

Alan Washbourne, 50, who with his brother John owns the BP Manor Garage on the B4245 in Rogiet, was hurt at 6.44am yesterday morning.

He was alone at the station, which has a Spar store attached to it, when the incident happened.

Gwent Police confirmed they were called to the garage yesterday morning following a call by Mr Washbourne, who was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, in Newport, for a check-up.

He was discharged yesterday and the garage re-opened with police tape on part of the premises.

Mr Washbourne, who is married to Marie, has owned the garage for 27 years. The couple, who live in Devauden, have three grown-up children.

* Gwent Police today said two local people, a 19-year old man and a 20-year-old woman, were arrested after the incident and have been charged with assault.
