HUNDREDS of demonstrators gathered outside Cricklade Leisure Centre this afternoon to protest against its closure.
North Wiltshire District Council decided to close the Cricklade site, along with those in Wootton Bassett and Calne, last week.
But people in Cricklade are not backing down and say they want to take control.
They were out in force with placards and banners this afternoon.
Campaigners say the announcement to close the centre was on the cards and the only way to save it is for it to be run by the community.
They also said North Wiltshire Leisure, the company brought in by the council to run the facility, has been running it into the ground for the last two years.
The Cricklade protest follows a demo outside Lime Kiln leisure centre in Wootton Bassett on Sunday night.
