BANBURY may have slipped to their fourth successive defeat, but they were unlucky to lose 1-0 to the Southern League Premier Division leaders Bath City at Twerton Park .

The visitors produced a gutsy performance, only going down to a disputed penalty, midway through the first half.

It came when Scott Partridge went down easily following a challenge from Les Robinson.

Although there didn't seem to be any contact, the referee pointed to the penalty spot and Lewis Hogg put the ball just out of Alan Judge's reach.

Judge was forced into a marvellous save, ten minutes before the break, but both Darren Pond and Andy Baird went close as Banbury kept battling.

The second half was a lot closer with young Tommy Kinch enjoying what was probably his best performance in a Banbury shirt, while Jon Gardner and Howard Forinton went close.

Banbury: Judge, Robinson, Kinch, Sullivan, Jackson, Pond, Bridges (Gardner 62), Redknap, Forinton, Baird, Stanbridge. Subs not used: Nicholls, Foley

Attendance: 830.
