Witney Utd 1, Thame Utd 1

A LATE equaliser by Adam Rhodes ended Witney United's chance of a third successive victory and earned Hellenic League Premier Division strugglers Thame a deserved point on Saturday.

The visitors started strongly, with Rhodes bringing the best out of home keeper Paul Tassell and then Simon Kitson being denied by the foot of defender Craig Holman.

Thame's superiority continued into the second half with the impressive Nathan Jack going close.

However, high-flying Witney looked to have been thrown a lifeline when Mark Simms was brought down by Chris Watkins inside the area for a disputed penalty.

After the Thame protests had died down, Lee Keyes calmy fired home the spot-kick to put Witney ahead.

To Thame's credit, they never stopped pressing and their deserved equaliser came when a deep free-kick found Anthony Dawson.

His shot was brilliantly touched on to the bar by Tassell, and Rhodes reacted quickest to fire home and spark wild scenes of celebration among the visiting players and staff.

AFC Wallingford 0, Wantage Tn 3

TWO goals from Gavin Jones gave Wantage a comfortable victory over their hosts.

The first of these came in the 29th minute, when good work by Gary Hartley set up Jones, who forced the ball home past John Shea in the Wallingford goal.

Jones repeated the trick in the 38th minute, this time after clever build-up work between Chris Hogan and Danny Keen.

The second half was only four minutes old when Wallingford conceded a free kick on the edge of their penalty area.

Tom Austin clipped in a cross which was nodded on by Gary Swann to Hartley, who headed high into the net to make it 3-0.

Tired defensive legs twice allowed Wallingford to pass through, but Wantage keeper Terry Burton denied them.

Wantage, spurred on by Hogan, also had further chances, with the industrious Keen striking a post.

Harrow Hill 1, Milton Utd 3

MILTON United moved up to fifth spot when they came from behind to record a comfortable win.

From the whistle, Harrow Hill blasted through a flat-footed defence, only to be denied by Milton keeper Dave Tasker.

But Tasker was back under pressure 30 seconds later, conceding a penalty following a mix-up between Matt Shelton and Dean Flockton. The spot-kick was converted by Harrow's Jones.

Five minutes later, Vinnie Rusher levelled the score from a Matt Shelton corner, cracking the ball into the top right hand corner of the goal from 15 yards.

Rusher added his second on 20 minutes. Brought down 20 yards out, he took a sublime free kick, which curled into the top corner, giving the keeper no chance.

Although taking the foot of the gas, the visitors continued to dominate.

Rusher was denied by the bar, but it was his fellow Andover resident Matt Styles who scored the third goal with a cracking free-kick.

Kidlington 3, Fairford Tn 2

KIDLINGTON's much-changed side hung on for a narrow victory, after nearly losing a 3-0 interval lead in an entertaining contest.

They went ahead in the 25th minute when Mark Baker scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Chris Gilkes.

After Baker had another effort disallowed, Kidlington doubled the lead when a throw from Jerry Karpal was headed on by Gilkes to Matty Brandish, who volleyed it home spectacularly from the edge of the area.

Kidlington's third goal arrived in the 44th minute. Baker beat the Fairford defenders to Denell Thomas's through ball and slotted in from a narrow angle.

Kidlington had chances to increase their lead in the second half, before Fairford pulled a goal back through Ashley Edenborough, who chipped the home keeper Floyd Kroll.

Only a couple of minutes later, Edenborough netted his second, shooting home low from just inside the box giving Kroll.

Kidlington survived without undue alarm through what seemed an eternity of injury time.

Ardley Utd 0, Shrivenham 1

ARDLEY missed a chance to go back top of the table by losing at home to their mid-table opponents.

The hosts lost Chris Hill and Adam Richmond to injuries at the start of the second half, and were caught by a sucker punch when they failed to clear a corner and Shrivenham's Peters scored from close range.

Luke Holden and Tom Green missed chances to level but it wasn't to be their day.

Pegasus Jnrs 3, Bicester Tn 1

BICESTER were slow to start and fell behind in the seventh minute.

A free-kick was allowed to go across the face of goal, and debutant Daniel Hamish netted from close range.

They home side increased their lead on 36 minutes when striker Danny Stack steered home a low cross.

Bicester rallied in the second half, and after the introduction of substitutes Tom Roberts and new signing Charlie Bough, Dean Smith pulled one back with a crisp shot from the edge of the box.

The game was dominated by Bicester for the next ten minutes, until Lewis Capley stole in at the far post to complete the scoring against the run of play.
