Friday night provided a fright night as both Cwmgors and Amman United suffered nightmare defeats on the road, at Aberavon Quins and Tondu respectively.

Cwmgors fixtures secretary Jeff Bright conceded that his side had come up against a stronger pack and a fitness edge helped the home side build up a commanding 36-0 halftime lead.

Cwmgors tackled bravely, but couldn't stem the sweeping home tide.

Errors with the little possession they had didn't help either.

The visitors left it late to grab a consolation try. Good forward play paved the way for winger Gary Jones to go blindside and cross for their only try, which Richard Gregg converted.

Cwm were missing a few key players, including Karl Nottingham and Carl Carter, but had no complaints at the final outcome. Quins finally ran out 72-7 winners.

Amman United also suffered a bad loss, losing 49-0 on their trip to Tondu. They will hope for better, as local pride is at stake when they entertain Brynaman in the sides' second meeting of the season at Cwmaman park on Saturday, March 24, 2.30pm kick off.

l Meanwhile, Cwmgors face Kenfig Hill at Parc y Werin, kick off 2.30pm.
