TRIBUTES have been paid to an elderly woman who died when she was knocked down in Brierley Hill after police re-appealed for information.

Mary Hill was believed to be crossing Amblecote Road when she was knocked down on October 21 last year. The incident took place at the junction of Amblecote Road and Hudswell Drive in Brierley Hill at around 10.20pm.

She was taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries but died a few days later. She was 77.

Mary paid daily visits to her friend's and would walk down Gayfield Avenue and onto Amblecote Road.

Mary's friend Anne Ballard have a touching tribute to Mary who had a "zest for life".

She said: "Mary was a great companion and she never missed a day coming to see me.

"We would regularly go fo days out meeting at the bus stop in Amblecote Road.

"She had a zest for life and loved her garden and she was very proud to come from Quarry Bank.

"She is sadly missed by all her friends and my dog Freddy."

A 19-year-old Brierley Hill man was arrested but later released without charge.
