Sir, I note that last Saturday was Carbon Savers Action Day in Abingdon, when the Vale of White Horse District Council was providing advice and encouragement on reducing energy use.
Perhaps the Vale should start in its own backyard by waiving the need for planning permission for bolt-on solar power generating panels.
I have had solar panels installed, and was extremely surprised to find that I had to submit a planning application (cost £135, delay two months), even though I do not live in a listed building or a conservation area.
Come on, Vale, put your money where your mouth is.
