TEENAGERS who filmed each other jumping over hedges before posting the antics on a website have been reprimanded by police.

The teenagers and their parents were summoned to Dorchester Police Station after the stunts, posted on Youtube, were revealed by the Dorset Echo.

And Dorchester Police Inspector Les Fry and West Dorset District councillor Molly Rennie used the meeting to highlight the dangers of the activities, including revealing the story of a teenager who lost a testicle after leaping over a hedge and encountering a fence post.

Insp Fry told the group that their activities not only damaged people's property but their actions could have resulted in them being charged with criminal damage.

He said: "We explained that what they were doing was actually criminal damage because they are damaging other property. I think that they got the message that what they were doing was wrong, and after hearing how someone was injured doing a similar thing it definitely gave them something to think about."

Coun Rennie said she highlighted to the group the potential long-lasting consequences of their actions, including not being able to get certain jobs because of a criminal record.

She said: " Sometimes you do something in the heat of the moment which could have implications on you life forever, be it an injury or a criminal record."
