Littlemore schoolboy Andrew Major had reason to celebrate after Oxford City Stars asked him to design a logo for next season's kit.

Major, 15, a member of the club's development team, put the designs together as part of a school project.

A keen artist who attends St Gregory The Great School in Cricket Road, Major started playing ice hockey when he was eight and is a forward for the under 16 squad.

He based his design on a mythical animal called a minator.

And this week, Darren Elliott (pictured right), the captain of the Oxford City Stars senior side, presented Major with a framed miniature team shirt emblazoned with his logo.

Oxford City Stars are looking for major sponsorship.

"Although we have been playing entertaining and committed hockey, our gates have not improved on the comparable period last year," said coach Darryl Morvan.

"If we are able to secure sponsorship for this young, committed team, then with the potential they have displayed this year, there is no reason why we cannot mount a strong challenge for honours next season."
