I READ with interest the article (Penarth Times, February 8) about the Pamir and the Passat and their visit to Penarth in 1949.
I was living at Sea View, the children's home at the time, and we were all taken down to the docks to see the ships.
The officer on duty, on seeing such a large group of children, invited us on board the Passat and showed us around the ship. Needless to say, we were thrilled to be given such a wonderful treat and talked about it amongst outselves for several days after.
