WORKERS feel more secure in their jobs than at any time in the past 18 months, a new study shows.

Research by Lloyds TSB showed that more than one in five people believe their jobs are more secure than a year ago.

As personal job fears have eased, consumers feel more optimistic about general employment prospects in the UK, said the report.

A survey of 2,000 adults showed that most fear another increase in interest rates this year.

Trevor Williams, chief economist at Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets, said: "On the back of continuing solid economic growth, consumers are regaining confidence."
