Description: The Stroud News and Journal are looking for a keen, ambitious and hard-working trainee reporter to work on the most successful weekly newspaper in Gloucestershire.
He or she should preferably be a graduate, have successfully completed the first part of the NCTJ Preliminary qualifications and have a good knowledge of the Stroud area, where the position is based.
Extensive general knowledge, a good standard of written English and shorthand of at least 80 words per minute are essential. A clean driving licence is also a requirement.
Stroud is a good, strong news area and the News & Journal, highly commended as weekly newspaper of the year in 2006 and 2007, is at the forefront of news reporting in the community. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic trainee with ambition.
