Breaking your personal best and a lake record is always a great achievement; but when you are only 16 years old, fishing a lake frequented by some of the best carp anglers, then that really is grounds for celebration.

That was the fabulous result this week when youngster Robbie Carpenter fished RMC's Kingsmead Pit One with angling pal Terry Rodham.

A fantastic 37lb 2oz common was Robbie's prize when the monster could not resist his Carp Company cranberry and caviar boilie fished at 20 yards over a gravel bar.

The New Malden-based Boilie company's bait also did the business for Steve McDermott down at in-form Orchid Lake. Steve used the bait to tempt a superb 31lb 6oz mirror.

A personal best was also the reward this week for 50-year-old Croydon decorator Peter Shepherd. Peter fished Tanyards Lakes and his mainline Activ-8 boilie gave him a new lake record common when he landed a terrific 26lb specimen.

Some high quality silver fish have been gracing the net this week. The best reported to me is a fine 2lb 3oz roach taken by Wandsworth's Paul Gray. Paul fished the small lake at Furnace Fishery at Slinfold and his maggot feeder with double caster hook bait proved to be just what the roach had in mind for lunch.
