PROFESSIONALS were arrested and charged or placed in stocks all in the name of charity.

The Royal National Institute for the Blind held a jail 'em and bail em' day with the help of PCs Harriet Smith and Andy Dean.

Wycombe district councillors Clare Martens and Dennis Green joined in the event and were placed in stocks outside theTown Hall, on Wednesday, and the Boots manager was charged for impersonating a manager.

About 13 people were arrested who then had to raise bail money in order to buy their freedom.

More than £6,000 was raised for the RNIB for a talking book service for the blind which costs the charity in excess of £4 million per year.
