Tendring residents recycled more this January than any other month.
More than 1,000 tonnes of household waste was collected, the first time that recycling has topped the four-figure mark.
The district council's new service was introduced at the start of the year where recycling is collected weekly rather than fortnightly.
Environment portfolio holder Michael Talbot said: "It looks as though the first month of the year will be 300 tonnes up on the same period last year - a very healthy increase of some 39 per cent."
