PONTHIR WI: Mrs Jean Wiltshire, president, welcomed two new members to the March meeting. Mrs Agnes Heath, secretary, read the minutes, correspondence and the County Newsletter. Then the speaker, Mr Brian Pring, entertained members to a wonderful selection of slides.

We were transported to the beautiful gardens and grounds of Crompton Acres, near Poole. Then we enjoyed visiting the gardens and grounds at Hever Castle, Kent.

We were then taken to visit two small churches nearer home, that of St Michael's Church, Cwmoy, nestled along the Llanthony Valley, and St Pierre Church, near Chepstow.

We then found we were visiting more gardens and houses, near Ledbury. The last group of slides took us on a lovely trip to Windsor, where we enjoyed the display of the visit which was put on at Windsor station portraying the visit of Queen Victoria, when she was celebrating her long reign as Queen.

Mr Brian Pring gave us a wonderful selection and so much appreciated by all. Mrs June Edwards in her vote of thanks expressed thanks to Brian for giving us such a varied evening, and taking us to so many places of interest on such a wet, miserable evening.

The raffle was won by Mrs Vi Mahony, and the competition, judged by Mr Brian Pring, Compose your own nursery rhyme', was won by Mrs Irene Rees.

Tea hostesses were Mrs Joyce Drew and Mrs Vi Mahony, and tea, coffee and Welsh cakes were enjoyed by all members.

Please come along on the first Monday of each month at 7.15pm to Ponthir Village Hall, where you will be sure of a warm welcome.
