A stunning recovery by Geoff Mace could not prevent Berinsfield Social Club losing 3-2 at home to Tandem in the Wallingford & District League.

Leading 3-1, Tandem loooked set for 4-1 victory when Mick Jones opened with a break of 7,710 in the final leg.

But Mace had other ideas. With everyone on their toes, he gradually reduced the difference and when he sank the very last ball, his break had reached 7,790 which gave Berinsfield a second point.

Eddy Tebby had put the hosts 1-0 up, only to see Stephen Sheard equalise with a total of 11,090 and then, Maxi McDonnell put the visitors in front.

A break of 9,800 by Ray Sturgess made it 3-1 before Mace's comeback.
