NELSON made it two wins in four days with another battling performance that saw off the challenge of Maine Road at Victoria Park.

Terry Fildes' re-vamped side fell behind after only two minutes when keeper James Brookes failed to hold onto Luke Mack's shot and Mike Turner fired home the loose ball from close range.

But Nelson came back strongly and drew level after 20 minutes when a low corner kick threaded its way through to the far post where Alex Mugan found the net.

Three minutes later the Blues took the lead when Martin Payne's high cross evaded the visiting keeper and Mugan was well placed to slot the ball home.

Maine Road threatened to fight back with the advantage of a strong wind in the second half, but Nelson went further ahead after 70 minutes when Chris Ridehalgh's through-ball allowed Luke Hargreaves to go round the keeper before slotting in their third goal from a narrow angle.

And the Blues looked comfortable for the remainder of the game, despite losing Gary Bowker for his second bookable offence.
