SIR - While I disagree with the wearing of a face veil, especially in an educational setting, I also disagree with D S Boyes (T&A, March 28). Whether this person likes it or not, this country and most others across the world are no longer mono-cultural or mono-faith.

The UK is as much my country and the country of my children who were born here, and their great grandparents who are buried in the cemetery here.

The sovereign is also my sovereign and I am on the side of the bishops currently opposing the opening of a casino in Manchester.

The culture of the UK has always been enhanced by others contributing to it throughout history, and so it will continue to be in the future, as long as we don't allow it to become another France.
