FALMOUTH ladies Kathy Wells and Lena Holland performed well during the February competitions at Falmouth Golf Club.

They continued their great form in the latest round of the Daily Mail Foursomes played at Truro Golf Club. They won through to the next round after a very close match which went to the 19th hole, against Truro pair,Tam Smith and Pat Wilcocks.

February competition results - three-ball better ball: 1, L Holland, K Kelly, S Rule; 2, K Wells, J Ogden, M Wilkinson.

Vice-Captain's Choice: 1, M Temple and J Campbell; 2, L Shone and W Woolcock.

Stableford: 1, B Roker; 2, K Wells. 3, M Hammond; 4, K Kelly; 5, F. Allsopp.

Winter League winners: K Wells and B Roker Falmouth Seniors Winter League was concluded on Wednesday for a the competition played throughout the winter for the Mike Andrew Trophy.

Ernie Eva was the eventual winner of the competition with a fine grand total of 264 points; Terry Williams was runner up with 261 points and Roger Dunstan was third.

Two competitions that had to be postponed due to one competitor having a serious back injury were finally played the other week - the McLeod Cup and the Medal Matchplay Cup. Both competitions were between Andy Acosta and Ray Clark. Ray Clark won the McLeod Cup and Andy Acosta won the Medal Matchplay.

The last round of the Ted Hitchens Winter League Trophy was played at the club on Saturday. Conditions were very good and with five members in close contention for winning the trophy expectations were high.

Fred Goodman and Seb Brunsden-Brown had the best round of the day scoring 44 points, Rik Shaw and Henry Churcher were second with 43 points, Richard Thompson and Paul Campbell were third with 42 points. Brian Shovlin and Dave Cuffin were fourth and Mike Trewin and John Ratcliff were fifth.

The overall competition results were: 1, Richard Thompson, 257pts; 2, Barry Lawrence and Alistair Morrison, 254pts; 3, Richard Marsh and Nigel Molin, 252pts; 4, Des Britton, 251 points.
