Country ways head to the city next weekend, as Leyton Marsh hosts a range of outdoor activities such as blacksmithing, willow weaving and creating recycled wildlife sculptures.

There will also be a chance to get up close to farm animals and invertebrates at this year's Countryside Live show and people of all ages can take part in sheep dancing, ferret racing and interacting with snakes and tarantulas.

Craft makers will be making smoothies with human powered bikes and creating dragonflies out of things we'd usually throw away such as milk bottle tops. There will be an array of rural activities, as well as the opportunity to learn about food production and watch arena displays including falconry and sheep shearing.

The annual event organised by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority usually attracts more than 3,000 visitors and gives children and families the opportunity to discover the real countryside, right on their doorstep.

Jon Carney, head of park lands at Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, says: "This is always a hugely popular event when the countryside comes to town, packed with a myriad things to do for all ages."
