The Conjuring star Joey King has revealed the cast and crew experienced a number of spooky events while filming the horror film.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star in the film about paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who work with a family who find themselves terrorised by a dark presence in their old farmhouse. The film is based on a true story.

Joey revealed at the film's Los Angeles premiere: "I was terrified, it was such a scary movie. This actually happened to some people, it was pretty creepy.

"On set something weird happened to me. When Lili Taylor [who plays her mother] was filming some scenes where she starts getting possessed, with bruises on her body. At the same time she was filming those scenes I started getting bruises all over my body. I went to the doctor and it turns out it was a low blood thingy, but I don't believe in coincidences, so I don't think it was a coincidence."

Vera, whose previous horror roles include Orphan and new Psycho spin-off show Bates Motel, thinks people like scary movies for the physical thrill.

She said: "I think it's just the physical sensation - it's a bolt of adrenaline, it's a quick fix.

"It also makes you feel like no matter how bad your day was, these characters have it worse.
