Detectives investigating the murder of a teenager shot in a car more than ten years ago have appealed again for information.

Tyrone Rowe, 18, was shot dead in Caradon Way, Tottenham, on the morning of October 7, 2001, while he was travelling with three friends in a Ford Fiesta.

Police have relaunched the appeal to track down the shooters and have offered a £20,000 for information leading to an arrest and prosecution for those responsible.

Officers believe the group of four had been driving round Alexandra Palace trying to find a party that evening.

As the car entered Caradon Way, they group were met by six or seven black men who fired a total of 11 shots into the car by at least two of the suspects.

Mr Rowe was hit in the head and hand and a post-mortem gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

It was reported at the time three black men were seen leaving the scene in a lime green people carrier travelling towards Turnpike Lane. Police say the vehicle has never been traced.

Mr Rowe’s grandmother, Ida Mclarty, said: “I want people who know anything about my grandson's death to come forward. There are people who know what happened that night.

"We have spent the last 11 years not knowing what happened or why Tyrone was killed. My family are unable to move on with our lives. Please contact the police and help them find the murderers."

Police say Mr Rowe was not involved in criminality and mistaken identity remains a line of enquiry.

Defectives from Operation Trident’s Gang Crime Command are calling for anyone with any information about the murder to come forward.
