An MP has given her backing to a campaign supporting Fairtrade projects in the developing world.
Lynne Featherstone MP met staff at the The Co-operative food store in Tottenham Lane, Hornsey as the shop prepares for the start of Fairtrade Fortnight next week.
The national event, organised by the Fairtrade movement, aims to raise awareness about the importance of paying farmers in developing countries a fair price for their goods.
The MP, who is a minister for international development said: βIt is crucial that we give producers around the world a fair deal and I applaud The Co-operative for their efforts in this regard.
βI am always happy to support Fairtrade Fortnight and would encourage people to think about how small changes, like making the switch to Fairtrade products, can make a massive difference to others.β
