A man has been charged for throwing a banana at Tottenham Hotspur player Gareth Bale during the north London derby against Arsenal.
Thomas Flint, 23, of Brantwood Gardens, Enfield, is due to appear in at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on 12 April charged throwing a missile onto the playing area under the Football Offences Act.
He was also charged with using threatening or abusive language or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress under the Public Order Act.
The incident happened during Sunday’s match at White Hart Lane as the Spurs midfielder was about to take a corner.
Spurs were victorious in the derby, beating their north London rivals 2-1.
