Homeless people in Tottenham will be trained to get work in horticulture thanks to a £100,000 charity grant.

St Mungo’s Homeless Charity has received the money from the City of London Corporation’s charity, City Bridge Trust, at allotments in Tottenham.

Part of the £100,000 grant will help people at the Tottenham centre get training in gardening for work experience to help their employment prospects.

Rod Cullen from St Mungo’s said he was "delighted", adding: “Many homeless people who volunteer with us have been unemployed for a long time. They want to work, but can lack the skills and confidence.

“We plan to employ a new gardening trainer who will work directly with them to help achieve their ambitions."
