An arts charity in Tottenham has won nearly £5,000 to help it stage more performances featuring young people from the area.

Volunteers at Haringey Shed, in Pretoria Road, teach drama, music and dance skills to children and teenagers of all backgrounds across the borough.

The charity says it will use the £4,865 from the Santander Foundation to transport disabled youngsters to its activities and provide a sign language service for participants and audiences.

Jim Shepley, executive director at the charity, said: “This is a fantastic boost and means such a lot for a small charity like us.

“It allows us to do more for young people.”

The charity has a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who support children and teenagers with a range of needs, including some who require one-to-one support.
