A group of teenagers have won a regional award for their "outstanding" contribution to the community.

Positive Youth News Haringey (PYNH), based in the Selby Centre, in Selby Road, Tottenham, have been crowned winners of the London vInspired Award 2014.

PYNH promote the positive things people under the age of 25 are doing in the borough and were nominated for their community work.

The group beat teams from across London to scoop the prize at the regional final.

One of the team, Erika Lopez, said: “We know from previous winners that the competition is high and are absolutely surprised we won.

“We feel we have won this award for all young people in Haringey, if they did not achieve such positive things to make our borough proud, we would not have a project.”

All regional winners will now go through to the national finals and we will be invited to attend the vInspired National Awards ceremony in March 2014.

PYNH will be competing against eight other regional winners in the national finals from across the country.
