More than 160 new homes will be built on the site of an old hospital in Muswell Hill.

Haringey Borough Council’s planning committee unanimously approved the proposals by Hanover Housing Association during a meeting last night.

The housing association plans to build 161 homes on the six acre site of the former St Luke’s Hospital in Woodside Avenue.

Forty-eight of the properties will be affordable homes, whilst 30 units will be co-housing dwellings, and 83 homes will be built for those over 55.

The housing association believes the proposals will enable older people living in Haringey to downsize to smaller properties which are easier and cheaper to maintain.

This will in turn free up family homes for younger families in the borough.
