The UK’s longest-running voluntary uniformed youth organisation has appealed for volunteers after it opened a new chapter in the borough.

The Boys’ Brigade (BB) has re-launched the Second Haringey Company, in Tottenham, and is seeking new members and volunteers to join them.

It is based at The Church of the Good Shepherd, in Mitchley Road, and offers a programme of events and activities for children aged from five to 11.

Albert Ryder, captain of the Second Haringey Company, said: “We’re delighted to be re-launching this group in Tottenham, and to be able to engage with young people through a programme of fun events and activities.

“We’re currently recruiting new members – boys and girls – to join us as well as volunteers.”

The following groups take place each week:

  • Anchor Section (for 5 to 7 year olds) - Wednesday – from 6pm to 7pm
  • Junior Section (8 to 11 year olds) – Wednesday – 7pm to 8.30pm

Parents are welcome to bring their children along on the day and people who wish to volunteer should be able to give a regular commitment.
