A man has been charged with causing death by careless driving in a crash with a pensioner on a mobility scooter.

Battal Gunes, of Turners Hill, Cheshunt, is accused of causing the death Marjorie Norman, of Tottenham.

The 42-year-old was charged this morning and has been bailed to appear at Highbury Magistrates' Court on March 17.

Mrs Norman, of Tottenham, was killed when her mobility scooter was hit by a silver Ford Focus as she crossed Tottenham High Road, at the junction with Cedar Road, on October 1, at 6.18pm.

The 77-year-old woman was treated at the scene by paramedics but died while on the way to hospital.
