Tottenham Hotspur stars Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon have given their views on the club’s new technical college.

The Spurs captain and winger were shown around the site of the Tottenham University Technical College (UTC) on Tuesday.

In partnership with Middlesex University, the college - currently recruiting Year 10 and 12 students for the coming academic year - will specialise in the technology and science for sport, health and engineering.

It aims to give students skills that will lead to employment in the competitive future economy.

After visiting the site Mr Dawson said: “I think the new college looks special. When I stand out there and see the glass front and I’m told what it’s going to be like inside - I think it’s definitely a place you would like to go to college.

“It’s going to be an unbelievable facility for 14 to 18 year olds looking to go into employment and it’s a credit to the football club and everyone who has worked on the development.

"We all know that sports people are role models and it’s important for us to come down and inspire the young people who are going to be going into employment – it can only be good for the community.”

The college building is expected to be completed by August in preparation for the academic year beginning in September.

Tottenham will hold an open day at White Hart Lane on Tuesday, March 11, for students to sample some of the activities and technology that will be on offer at the UTC between 1.30 and 6.30pm.
