An ear specialist will become a “super-hear-o” for the day when she run the London Marathon for charity.

Crystal Rolfe aims to complete the 26-mile race through the capital on Sunday, April 13, in aid of the Action on Hearing Loss.

The 32-year-old audiologist is raising cash to support the charity’s research into a cure for hearing loss.

Ms Rolfe said: “I wanted to do some fundraising to help support the great work Action on Hearing Loss is doing.

“I’m confronted with the difficulties people with hearing loss face every day but I also see first hand that there is so much that can be done to improve the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people through support services and advice.”

Ms Rolfe grew up around friends who are deaf, started to learn British Sign Language at the age of 17 and became an audiologist after studying at university.

She’s now working for Action on Hearing Loss and is also in the middle of her MSc degree in Health Psychology.

The 32-year-old added: “I’ve been running since I was eight years old and since then my ambition was to run the London marathon.

“I ran it for Action on Hearing Loss three years ago, which was a fantastic experience.

“The organisation has done a huge amount for deaf and hard of hearing people over the past 100 years but there is still so much to be done including supporting people in their local community and finding a cure for hearing loss.”
