People standing in the Haringey Borough Council elections in May have been reminded to complete and return their nomination papers.

Polling day is on Thursday, May 22, with all 57 seats in 19 wards across the council up for election, along with the London Region constituency in the European Parliament.

Prospective candidates for the council elections must return nomination forms, including the signatures of ten registered voters from their ward, to the council’s electoral registration office at Haringey Civic Centre by 4pm on Thursday, April 24.

Returning officer Nick Walkley, chief executive of Haringey Council, said: “Whether you want to stand as part of a political party or as an independent candidate, it’s important you return your nomination pack in good time.

“Time is also running out to register to vote, and I’d urge residents planning to be away on election day to consider now whether they need to apply for a postal or a proxy vote.”

Council election nomination forms are available from the electoral registration office by visiting the Civic Centre during weekday working hours, calling 020 8489 1000 or emailing elections@haringey.gov.uk
