A man is being held on suspicion of murder after a construction worker was found dead near railway tracks in South Tottenham.

The body of Franciszek Karol Malinkowski, 51, was discovered in overgrown wasteland behind Ermine Road on Sunday morning.

A 41-year-old man, one of two men arrested on suspicion of murder in Stamford Hill in the early hours of Tuesday, is being held by police, while a second man, aged 33, has been released on bail.

Of seven others arrested in connection with the death, aged between 30 and 48, six have been bailed and one remains in custody.

Another man arrested in the early stages of the investigation was released with no further action.

Police have since released an image of the victim, whose body is still yet to be formally identified.

Mr Malinkowski, originally from the Slupsk area of northern Poland, was living in Finsbury Park and working in the area as a construction worker.

Investigators have described him as a hard working man with no obvious enemies.

A special post mortem was taking place yesterday to gather further evidence from the body of the victim after an initial post mortem gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.

Forensic officers were also seen scouring undergrowth at the scene earlier this week.
