A 14-year-old boy has been bailed by police after a teenage girl was subjected to a gang rape in Alexandra Park on Friday night.

The boy was arrested late on Saturday on suspicion of a sexual assault that took place between 11pm on Friday and 12.30am on Saturday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the force was treating the incident as “a serious sexual assault by a group of males on a teenage girl”.

Areas of the park were cordoned off on Saturday morning as police carried out investigations around the lake.

The boy has since been released on bail to allow for further investigations.
