A church celebrating four decades in Crouch End is building up to a weekend of activities and services to mark the special occasion.

Union Church and Community Centre, in Weston Park, is having an open afternoon on Saturday to mark its 40th anniversary.

The event, held between 2pm and 5pm, will be followed by a service of celebration at the church on Sunday at 2pm.

Saturday’s open day will include presentations from many of the groups and classes associated with the church.

Church minister Reverend Keith Roberts said: “Our church and centre have been serving the people of Crouch End for 40 years.

“I expect there are many, many people living in N8 who have visited our building at one time or another.

“We ask them all to make another visit and invite them to come in sometime over the weekend and see where we are now.”
