Tottenham MP David Lammy says the Mark Duggan inquest report has "far reaching consequences" for both the Metropolitan Police and the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The Labour MP praised the "thorough" report published today by the coroner, Judge Keith Cutler.

The jury in the inquest concluded that the shooting by an armed policeman of Mark Duggan in August 2011 was lawful, but the report is critical of how police and the IPCC investigated the killing.

He added: "The test now is to see whether the institutions identified implement the recommendations the coroner has requested. Only then can we minimise fatal shootings of this kind on the streets of our capital city."
