Organisers of this year’s Hornsey Music Festival are hoping for better weather after moving the event to the summer.

Last year’s debut in September saw organisers battling inclement weather so the live music festival will this year be held over three days in July.

The event centres around three pubs – The Great Northern Railway Tavern, The Three Compasses and The Hornsey Tavern.

Live music from local amateur and professional performers will be held throughout the weekend at surrounding venues, as well as a host of other activities and pop-up events.

Last year, several Hornsey shops got involved, and organisers are this time hoping to set up a large picnic area at the centre of the event.

This year’s festival, held between Friday, July 11, and Sunday, July 13, will raise money for three charities – Kaos Theatre Group, Action for Kids and the Hornsey Music and Performing Arts Centre.

Organiser Lisa Hyde said: “It is great for the area. It brings everyone in the community together and provides great exposure for local musicians.

“We’re all working very hard but it is made easier by the fact everyone wants to get involved. The event brings a great atmosphere into the area. It is going to be really lively and as long as the weather is good to us it will be a really sociable event.”

A full schedule of events will be published on the festival’s website on June 20 and you can follow live coverage of the build-up on Twitter by following @HornseyMusicFes.
