The Labour leader of the council thanked the outgoing mayor for her hard work at the first full meeting of the new council last night.

Cllr Claire Kober, who praised Cllr Sheila Peacock for her “connection with people”, said: “I’ve had many positive pieces of feedback about the presence of the mayor and deputy mayor across the borough.”

Cllr Peacock said that the meeting was an “emotional” one.

Giving what she joked was a “history lecture” rather than a speech, she reminisced on the recognition of Haringey Council by the queen, and thanked those who had helped her during her time as mayor.
