Students and teachers at Haringey Sixth Form Centre found out what it will be like for World Cup footballers playing in the Brazilian heat.
As part of a project by sports drink maker Lucozade, BTEC Sport students from the college played a 60-minute football match with restricted fluid intake and in extreme heat.
Body weight, core temperatures, urine and sweat loss were all measured and analysed before, during and after the match.
Some body temperatures were so high during peak-match testing that on-site doctors gave players ice jackets to reduce core temperatures.
Using GPS trackers, players were also able to see the distance run during the match and number of goals scored.
Individual results were available to all players which could be compared to members of their football team and also to the results of a professional player.
