Binge drinkers in Haringey are costing the public purse more than £240,000-a-year, according to new figures.
The ‘On the Wagon’ report, by the Conservative party at the GLA, showed London Ambulance Service responded to 1,035 alcohol related incidents across the borough in 2012/13.
It also revealed that 13 per cent of the population in Haringey over the age of 16 engage in binge drinking.
Some politicians are calling for heavier fines and an increase in NHS nurses in ‘sobering centres’ on troubled streets.
