Haringey's top cop gave young footballers trophies in recognition of their sporting achievements.

Borough commander Chief Superintendent Victor Olisa presented prizes to members of the Haringey District School Football Team at the Spurs stadium on Friday, before chatting with the boys and their parents.

Haringey District School coach Tim Aleshe, said: "The event will change the mind-set of a few of the parents who may have had a negative opinion of the police and this made the event successful.

"Most cases you read about the police are regarding stabbing, shooting or drugs, not the good projects that the police are involved with regarding community and family."

Mr Aleshe said Mr Olisa acted as a role model in the community, adding that it was "a very good thing that he gave his time to be there".

The football team have played against other London boroughs, such as Hackney and Westminster.

Mr Aleshe, who said that his team had done particularly well this season, added that it was appropriate for the night to be held at White Hart Lane as it is a landmark and part of the local community.
