A professional basketball player says the borough’s aspiring sports stars have “enormous potential”.

London Lions player Perry Lawson made the comments after watching trials for the new Basketball Academy at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London.

The trials were run in association with the London School of Basketball, where Mr Lawson is a coach, and were attended by 24 young hopefuls.

Mr Lawson said:  “The players who have come here today have enormous potential.

“I think of them as ‘rough diamonds’, which we will polish and polish until they finally become the exceptional players I know they can be.”
