Tributes are pouring in from friends and colleagues of Labour councillor Pat Egan, who died on Saturday.
Alan Stanton, a former colleague and councillor of 16 years, praised Cllr Egan for his “principle, integrity, honesty and endless courtesy”.
Both Dianne Abbott, Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, and David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, paid their respects.
Ms Abbott said that Cllr Egan had been a “pleasure to campaign with", while Mr Lammy remembered a “hugely respected councillor” and “thoroughly decent man”.
Alan Olive, regional director of the London Labour Party, said he was “saddened” to hear of the death, while Labour Party member Seema Chandwani remembered a “nice guy” who “always gave great advice”.
Councillor James Patterson, a current representative for the Alexandra ward, said: “I’m really going to miss him."
