An online archive exploring Haringey during the First World War will be launched today.
Haringey Council is launching the 100 Years Ago project, featuring letters, photographs and newspaper articles, on its website.
The first exhibits have been uploaded to the site to coincide with the centenary of the war’s outbreak.
They include an article from the Tottenham and Edmonton Weekly Herald and a photograph of the King Edward’s Horse Regiment on Bounds Green Road.
Mayor of Haringey Councillor Kaushika Amin said: “Although 100 years may have passed, lessons from the First World War remain as relevant as ever.
“The war changed the world as we knew it, and it is so important that we remember those who lived through it and the many millions who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“I hope residents will join us whenever and however they’re able, to learn more about life in Haringey during those years and pay homage to all those who fought in the war, as well as those who pulled together at home to keep the country going.”
