A Tottenham artist triumphed in the annual Shed of the Year competition.
Joel Bird, who built shed to house his studio with a roof-top allotment, had his creation crowned Amazing Spaces Shed of Year.
More than 20,000 people voted in the competition, which was run by Channel 4 and attracted more than 2,000 entries
Mr Bird, an artist, grows strawberries, rhubarb, courgettes, broccoli, radishes and broad beans on the unusual roof-top garden.
He said the idea came to him because he could not afford to rent a workspace and he was finding getting hold of an allotment “difficult”.
Mr Bird, who now builds bespoke sheds for a living, said: “I think the show does capture something – more and more people work from home. There’s quite a lot of demand for sheds.
“Sheds are not just a place for a man to go and work in, now. It’s about people, and the way they live.”
He said that winning the competition was “an incredible honour”, adding: “I'm hoping to use the award to promote the benefits of a more sustainable life."
